Written in 93 and originally recorded in. Houghton le Spring at Frank Gibbon's house '42 Nesham Place' just before he moved to Lambton Estate, Frank had a 24 track desk in his front room and Alan Clarke from Dire Strait's piano in the hall
It's so lovely to hear John Perry's approach on this new version on guitar, being a musician I have admired for many years, beautiful playing John
This could be the first ever song to mention Sadam Hussein? maybe, well no big deal
lyrics
Taker on the globe
All the forces in Heaven
See as witnesses below
Suffer under crude tactition
To try to keel the hollow show
Sacrificing love to business
Like butterfly amid the snow
Still there is time to keep on dreaming
Against the taker on the globe
Taker on the globe
Though the wild winds give in abandon
More Hussein for rise & fall
Continuation if the long line of dead thought dead meat
We all can see a mile above
Sacrificing love to business
Like butterfly amid the snow
Still there is time to keep on dreaming
Against the taker on the globe
Taker on the globe

Guillemot Days whisks us to a glistening shoreline, awash with 10 sublime songs full of serene hope. Compelling right from the buoyant opener Edge Of The World and Butterfly overflows with soaring, twangy sunshine. For a fave, so close with the lush vocals, melodic layers of Flowers Of Hope versus Peace And Plenty: an intriguing, modern parlour song both eerie and exquisite, voices and clarinet blending into something quite special. This album is a musical lighthouse on a dark day. Unmissable. anitajoyce
