lyrics
The Last Song
Let the floating feather fall and settle in your hand
Leave the writing on the wall and sculptures in the sand
I carried you inside me then, your spirit singing strong
As the mountain holds an eco, so I hold your song
Sail by the stars, follow your heart
Travelling with hope, sharing your light
Where there is love, you are home
This is the last song, and it’s all for you my sons
This is the last song, for your light is shining on
This is the last song, a connection ever strong
This is the last song, and the journey will live on
Paths confetti strewn and wild, indigo night children
Spirits bright awoke the day your laughter came to play
Feeling blessed to watch you grow, I hope you’ll always know
True kindness carefree fun, for where there’s love is home

Guillemot Days whisks us to a glistening shoreline, awash with 10 sublime songs full of serene hope. Compelling right from the buoyant opener Edge Of The World and Butterfly overflows with soaring, twangy sunshine. For a fave, so close with the lush vocals, melodic layers of Flowers Of Hope versus Peace And Plenty: an intriguing, modern parlour song both eerie and exquisite, voices and clarinet blending into something quite special. This album is a musical lighthouse on a dark day. Unmissable. anitajoyce
This album has quietly moved up the ranks: now a favourite, my first from Susanna Wolfe. I love the mix of reflective drama and honesty underpinning this outstanding release. ‘Accident of Birth’ is a bravely crafted account of dysfunctional family life whilst ‘Chemical Liberation’ is haunting, containing my favourite guitar solo of the album. Bargain Basement’ has exquisite vocal harmonies but the top slot goes to ‘Just One Step’ for pure catchy positivity, an album for ‘healing and believing’ anitajoyce
I first heard Katie Spencer on YouTube when she was featured on the For Bert Jansch playlist. Katie played her own song called Shannon Road. The lead break that she plays twice really got my attention. I became a fan instantly. Every track on this album is lovely. The whole listening experience is like a favourite film running through my head. I'm so glad that in my twilight years I discovered Katie. I wish her a long and succesful career in music. Mitch Wild
