On the haunted highway
Where the hobos roam
On the good Lord's bye way
Bye the river of song
There's a lost tribe wandering
Through the mist they go
With their songs and stories
See them wandering home
Bridge
On the haunted highway, time lingers on
On the good Lord's bye way, there's a golden dawn
On the haunted highway, wild flowers keep
To the call of the pilgrim's, eternal sleep

Guillemot Days whisks us to a glistening shoreline, awash with 10 sublime songs full of serene hope. Compelling right from the buoyant opener Edge Of The World and Butterfly overflows with soaring, twangy sunshine. For a fave, so close with the lush vocals, melodic layers of Flowers Of Hope versus Peace And Plenty: an intriguing, modern parlour song both eerie and exquisite, voices and clarinet blending into something quite special. This album is a musical lighthouse on a dark day. Unmissable. anitajoyce

What a tribute, I haven’t the words to say how this group have been the soundtrack to my life, through good and bad.

John Drumbo French from Captain Beefheart and The Magic Band worked with Thompson on two albums along with Fred Frith and Henry Kaiser.
Those two French, Frith, Kaiser and Thompson albums led me to this.
Also, Richard Thompson taught Hugh Cornwell (of The Stranglers) how to play the bass guitar in a band when they were both at the same school (Emil and The Detectives?).
With a career spanning 50 years and playing with two of my heroes (French and Cornwell) Thompson has produced a fascinating EP. yellowcakeuf6
