Elaine, Elaine, my life is not the same
You're still the Angel in my life though God took you away
I might sail many oceans, but ya never far away
Guide me from above, Elaine
Guide me with your love, Elaine
For anything good about me was born in a place called you
You helped me from life's ruin, you kept me straight and true
When the Lord takes back a soul like you it hurts in many ways
As if someone stole the mountains, or sunlight from the day
Elaine, Elaine, my life is not the same
You're still the Angel in my life though God took you away
I might sail many oceans, but ya never far away
Guide me from above, Elaine
Guide me with your love, Elaine
It's years now since your passing and our daughter she has grown
To a beauty like her Mother, with a lover of her own
And though I keep a brave face on, till at night when I'm alone
That's when I cry and whisper your name, Elaine
Elaine, Elaine, my life is not the same
You're still the Angel in my life though God took you away
I might sail many oceans, but ya never far away
Guide me from above, Elaine
Guide me with your love, Elaine

I love these alternative versions of the 'Murmuration' songs. The stripped down instrumentation creates an intimite vibe, while the poem intertwines them into a concept-like album. As a result, this is a new album that stands out on its own and that is more than just a complement to 'Murmuration'. 'Ordinary' already was a beautiful song, yet 'Extraordinary' adds something extra for me. And because the piano intro somehow calls up some recognition. Another beautiful album by Emily Barker! rbergman
The second EP from Northern Irish singer-songwriter Bea Stewart runs from gentle folk to pillowy pop ballads, all perfectly executed. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 15, 2024
